Over the last two decades, the Dodge Charger has become well-known for its aggressive styling, tire-spinning power statistics, and, most famously, its V-8 howl. When Dodge revealed the Charger Daytona EV in March, it met two of those criteria: a square-jawed face and a maximum output of 670 horsepower. However, the Charger Daytona’s sound remained a mystery, with the original 2022 concept promising a “Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust” that promised head-turning levels of loudness despite its electric drivetrain.
We now know the answer. Dodge shared a video on social media showing a production-spec Charger Daytona zipping under an overpass, giving us a taste of the aural experience the Charger Daytona will give once sales begin.
Dodge is Trying To Bring MOPAR Muscle Car Sound From EV Pipes
The all-new Dodge Charger Daytona comes with the groundbreaking Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system, which changes the way electric cars sound and feel. This patent-pending technology creates a unique rumble that brings out the raw emotion of Dodge’s muscle car DNA. With its two transducers and passive radiator design, the Fratzonic system responds to throttle position and speed inputs from the driver to try and provide an authentic muscle car type driving experience that is unmatched in the EV market. This unique exhaust system bridges the performance gap between muscle car and electric technology in the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T and Scat Pack.
Let’s see if Mopar fans are at all swayed by this attempt to soothe the savage muscle car beast.
